Five years to clear Hackney housing waiting list

Figures from Shelter say it would take 5.78 years to clear the borough's waiting list. That's pretty good compared to 21.69 years in neighbouring Haringey, 8.38 in Islington, 24.12 in Newham and 10.12 in Tower Hamlets.

    It's sort of bad news made better with a twist of disappointment at not being shocked by Hackney statistics.
